Made by twenty-four children and teens attending Fundación Nur’s Bright Gems program.

The inspiration of this activity was the beautiful architectural jewels of Cuenca, and the surrounding landscapes.

The youngest children from Cuenca (6 to 10 years old) painted the “Broken Bridge”, four pre-teens (11 to 12 years old) interpreted the “New Cathedral”, and the children and pre-teens from the community of El Salado show us the beauty of their local jewel: “La Quebrada Oscura”.

These works will be exhibited at the Museum of Modern Art of the City of Cuenca, from October 24 to 29, 2024, in the exhibition: “Our landscapes in watercolor”.

All this was possible thanks to the tireless work of the artist Nela Navarrine, vice-president of the Foundation, who generously provided the means and knowledge to the children, with love and dedication, giving individual attention to each one of them.
Nela Navarrine is a painter, her works are exhibited mainly in the Midwest of the United States. She describes her art as a way to communicate in a language that is not spoken.
She is the Art Teacher for the children at the Foundation, she began working on-line with them since the pandemic, as a method to alleviate the anguish of confinement and to teach them a different world.
From virtuality, her love and warmth, won the hearts of all the children.

Children who receive help, now they help other children.

The funds raised will be used to purchase art supplies and snacks for the 180 children (minimum) that will be visited by the “NUR ON THE ROAD” initiative.

If you live outside of Ecuador, you will receive a printed copy of the painting that you bought.

If you live in Cuenca, you can pick your framed original painting at Fundación Nur.

Young artists will receive a framed print as a keepsake.
